De TF42-B thermische overbelastingsrelais zijn kostenefficiënte elektromechanische beveiligingsapparaten voor de hoofdstroomkring. Ze voldoen aan de nieuwste normen voor spoorwegrollend materieel en maken installatie mogelijk in passagiers- of bestuurderscabines van treinen die frequent in tunnels of ondergronds rijden. Ze bieden betrouwbare motorbeveiliging bij overbelasting of fase-uitval. De apparaten hebben uitschakelklasse 10. De thermische overbelastingsrelais zijn driepolige relais met bimetaal-uitlaselementen. De motorstroom loopt door de bimetaal-uitlaselementen en verwarmt deze direct en indirect. Bij overbelasting (overstroom) buigen de bimetaalelementen door de verwarming.
